It has been a while since Jim Carrey stars in a movie on the silver screen, in fact, i don’t really remember what was his last movie that i’ve watched and mind you, i am a big fan of Jim Carrey and when i saw the trailer of Yes Man few months back while i was walking in Jusco’s Wellness pharmacy, i laughed.

Jim Carrey plays Carl Allen who works in the Loan Department of a bank and ever since his wife got a divorce, Carl has been playing all anti-social and saying NO to almost every opportunity that cross-pathed into his life because he has developed this particular phobia which nobody knows what it is. He lied to his friend that he extremely busy where in fact he is queueing up to pay at a video store buying some DVDs to watch alone in his apartment, he was subsequently caught in action by his friend who then drags him to a bar.

One afternoon, Carl bumps into an old friend who incites him to enjoy life to the fullest without boundaries and that Carl should get rid of that “NO” attitude in him. His friend persuaded Carl to go to a seminar where it promotes people to say “YES” to everything, the positive side of the human nature. Carl went and he was turned from a NO man to a YES man, he was advised to say “YES” to every opportunity that comes to him as soon as he step out of that seminar hall. He obliged to that “covenant” and got ripped off by a homeless person immediately but as a result, he met a girl, his future girlfriend.

Pretty much after that one mishap, everything that Carl said YES to brings him good luck and achievements. There was one time when he said NO to his neighbour who was a very old lady offering him a blowjob and he ended up falling down the stairs and almost get eaten by a dog alive, therefore he thought to himself that it might be the “force of universe” that’s compelling him to not say NO. As a result, he went back and gave what his old lady neighbour wants XD

The say YES notion works very well until he was caught by the CIA in suspicion of being a terrorist for picking up almost every activity that could be associated with a terrorist, his position was explained by his best friend that he cannot say NO to any options even if it means he will be exploited. His girlfriend got angry and ponders whether saying YES to their relationship was part of a sick program that he signed up for. Figuring that his life is falling apart, Carl went back to the organizer and caused him an accident. Both ended up in the hospital and that’s when the organizer punched some sense into Carl’s mind that he has misused the word YES.

This is a great entertaining movie and obviously it focus a lot on Jim Carrey and we all know what he is famous for, his weirdest expressions that he can create through his face and he really utilized it fully and well in this movie. I sense that there’s a lot of censorship in this movie by the local cinema, i reckon that to get the DVD and watch the original one.
