Transformers : The Movie

Genre : Action / Adventure / Fantasy
Plot : Giant transforming vehicles warring against each other to obtain the map leading to a weapon of mass destruction.

Adapted from the very popular 1984 TV cartoon series that most boys would skip dinner just to watch it, Transformers. Gigantic robots taking the shape of conventional human vehicles in the attempt to conceal themselves from the general public and eliminate any possible threats, they are at their liberty to transform into their original selves with traits of the vehicle they adopted designs from which makes each and everyone of them unique hence the name “Transformers”. The concept of this movie is simple, 2 factions; 1 good 1 bad, Autobots and Decepticons respectively fighting against each other to gain dominance of a cube, the Allspark which they believed can create more of their kinds and the basic principle of war, the sides with the most army wins and this is no exception. However, it seems to me that in the movie Allspark can only generate evil Transformers. I don’t know about the cartoon series because it was released on 1984 and i was only born on 1987. I watched them but just cannot appreciate what it’s trying to portray.

Although this movie was long due but i feel that i owe this movie an apology if i don’t make a review about it. It’s so good that i cannot stop watching the movie 3 times in just 2 days after downloading it from the intarweb for own pleasure because the DVD copy is not out yet and to further show how crazy and good this movie is to me (at least) i watched the trailer countless times, don’t believe me it’s that good then see for yourself. The movie is very nicely plotted, everything just drops into place at the right time. This is not your average big machines punching holes onto each other movie, it has comedy, action, romance and almost everything… just spectacular! Although in the movie the ‘transformation‘ took part several times but i’m sure that none of the audience got bored watching them because the they all took part in different situations which makes it more interesting.

The DVD is out on the market now for RM69.00 or RM65.00 i couldn’t remember when i asked about it Ikano Power Centre’s Speedy Store. So wanted to buy but it’s just wayyy out of my budget but i really wanted to see how it looks like on th plasma TV i have in my living room. Anyway, Transformers 2 is running on production now and rumor has it that the Decepticons will have an aircraft carrier added into their fleet which is only logical because everyone was thrown into the deep sea and we all know how BIG an aircraft carrier is, Starscream will return as “The Commander” considering the fact he is the 2nd in Command .The Autobots on the other hand will have the Constructicons, Construction vehicles that are capable of merging and to form one really huge bad ass Autobot but nothing is conclusive yet.
