Transformers 2 : Revenge of The Fallen
Genre : Action / Adventure / Fantasy
Plot : Giant transforming vehicles warring against each other to obtain the map leading to a weapon of mass destruction.
It has been 2 long years since the first Transformers Movie was released and was a big hit for those who even had the slightest glimpse of them in the early and original animated form but Transformers then somehow took a deep drop when Beast Wars was released replacing the original vehicle mode, IMO at least.
I have been waiting for the Part 2 as soon as i finished watching Part 1 at Cineleisure on the 2nd day after its premiere and it has been a worthy wait. Unlike all other big major “episode” movies, Transformers 2 did not disappoint even a bit. Part 1 was all about the Autobots preventing the Decepticons from obtaining the map that will lead them to the Allspark which contained a source of energy called the “Energon” that will basically give and sustain lives of all Cybertronians. With its destruction in Part 1, Megatron thought that energy is no more and they are bound for extinction until it was made know by its master, “The Fallen” that the power has been “transformed” into the body of Sam Witwicky.
Revenge of The Fallen is all about the Autobots preventing, basically the same thing, that is the Decepticons from getting to that source of energy and use it for the ultimate evil that will lead to the total destruction of Earth. I will not waste time to fork out all the small details in the movie that made it interesting to watch so i’m just going to sum up what i think about this movie T____T
The Good
- amazing CGIs
- truck loads of Autobots and Decepticons
- intriguing longer fight scenes
- an unexpected climax
- more hilarious
The Bad
- less character focus
- ending seems to be “in a rush”
- The Audi R8 aka “Sideways” died disappointingly.
A little bit of elaboration of what i considered as a bad point of this movie so *SPOILERS ALERT* don’t read beyond line if you do not wish to.
You know the whole thing about 7 bad ass Constructicons merging into 1 big giant mofo Devastator who seems indestructible? Well, it died with just one shot of a Plasma Cannon mounted on a Destroyer named “U.S.S. Kidd”.
“The Fallen” which is supposed to be the grandfather of the Decepticons, didn’t even last half the time that Megatron shared with Optimus Prime in the final fight scene in Part 1.
The ONE thing and perhaps the only thing that i really dislike is that, Part 2 has very little character focus. For instance, Jolt which is supposed to be one of the Autobots but was i think almost never given any decent screen time as it should be. The only screen time it was given was at the near ending where he helped Optimus Prime gained its new parts.
But nonetheless, it was a legendary movie. What else can i say. I’ve watched this movie twice in the cinema already up to date and i’m sure once i get my hands on its DVD, i’ll go on a killing spree T____T
My rating : 5/5
