Plot : Just when you thought that it’s about a story of a kid who has been abandoned and developed a strange character.

When i first saw the poster, i got the wrong idea that it’s a horror show, mostly ghostly in nature but then when i watched the trailer, i realized it was not but it didn’t change perception about the movie, i thought it is another B grade movie that’s not worth the time watching because trust me, i’ve been going into cinemas watching movies of unknown stars and sad to say, i am disappointed.

Watched it nonetheless last Sunday and i must say, it is nothing short of excellence. It is dark, wicked and twisted. This movie captures every single element that a thriller should and i hope this movie sets a benchmark for more thriller movies to come in the future because it captures all the necessary elements of a thriller perfectly. I watched Final Destination 4 few days ago and trust me, it is even worst than watching a B grade movie. The problem with thriller show nowadays is that the director focuses too much on blood and gore until the extend that there is no essence in the movie.

Simple story line with much to guess. Started with an alcoholic mother who almost got her 2nd daughter killed in a drowning accident. There was no certainty as to whether that problem causes her to give birth to a stillbirth of her 3rd baby. Killing herself with guilt, she finally stopped drinking and adopted someone so that she would feel better, Esther was adopted.

There is really something wrong with Esther =O and throughout the entire movie, you will be given clues through the various things and way Esther did things in order to make sure she doesn’t lose the things that she just got after being adopted until the extend of killing but why is she doing so?

The director have placed a few characters in the movie to further enhance the storyline. Esther of course, the manipulative antagonist. The struggling distress mother who is having a hard time convincing her husband into believing that Esther is not what she seems to be. There is someone in the movie that i think if without, the movie will fail and that is the mother’s 2nd daughter who is partially dumb and deaf who goes by the name, Max. You got to watch the movie yourself to understand why i’m saying so.

Whatever it is, both the actress for Max and Esther are very talented young persons.

The one thing i like about Orphan other than it doesn’t focus mainly on blood and gore is that it gives you the opportunity to take part in guessing what the hell is wrong with Esther. It is something very essential to a thriller that somewhat directors now tend to oversee. Not good. I don’t like to just sit back and watch people killing each other mindlessly and ending the show by saying “X is insane”, i need to be productive. Watching this movie really injects the genuine feel of fear in you but not those you know that Sadako is waiting for you in at home kinda fear.

Whatever it is, i dare to say that Orphan is definitely the best thriller movies out there now, beats the crap out of Final Destination 4. Go watch it in the cinema and can you find out what is wrong with Esther before the movie ends?
