Infernal Affairs I
This is the first episode to this very popular trilogy series in Hong Kong, my point is proved when even Hollywood decided to have a remake version of it called “The Departed” starring Matt Damon and Leonardo Dicaprio; which IMHO, is total rubbish. Don’t remake anything just because you cannot understand Chinese >=( Other than the massive amount of profanities used in that movie i can’t find anything that would attract me to watch it again. Anyway, i am not here to critic some white-neck’s remake of a chinese movie, here’s the trailer for Infernal Affairs: -
First installment of the trilogy. Like all trilogy series, the first usually overwhelms the normal human expectation and when it comes to the second and third :tsk: For instance, take Lord of The Rings [Part I was interesting, Part II was boring and i fell asleep watching Part III]; Fast & The Furious [Part I was great, Part II was ok and Part III is just lame because nobody drifts on an highway] Spiderman [Part I was excellent, Part II was great and Part III is just crapload of bullshi-] the lists goes on and on … Part II and III of the Infernal Affairs are no different.
Sypnosis : Police places an undercover cop in the triad and the triad puts the same in the police department. Both sides playing hide & seek and see who finds the needle in the haystack first AND of course betrayal plays a big part here. To sum it all up, all i can say is that this movie is filled with character. It has the eccentric style that many movies with themes alike cannot achieve but i must say the ending was a bit disappointing. If you think trailers has the sole purpose of making sucky movies look interesting, trust me that that line is not applicable here.
For you guys who have watched the movie at the cinema or through a DVD copy whether via download OR you bought it with paper notes, i found an alternative ending to the movie, though i find the original ending is unsatisfactory but i don’t like the alternative ending any better. So here goes : -
I’d give this movie a 4/5. The -1 is for the bad ending.
