Post RON-97 Report

I have came across many questions people posted online regarding about the difference in quality between RON95 and RON97 but to my surprise, there haven’t been any official report or unofficial report that was released or posted online yet (at least to my knowledge) and so few days ago, i decided to do my own research to discover the possible difference between these 2 grade fuels.

Previously, i’ve tried on RON95 fuels from 2 companies namely, Petronas and Shell. It is shown that Shell is indeed superior in terms of fuel economy beating Petronas by 0.051cents normal city driving but this statistic cannot be treated as the gospel truth because there are many factors that affect fuel economy of a car. It is just a rough estimation of the number. You can read about the full report HERE

I went almost flat (fuel signal light up!) with my 1.3 Proton Gen.2’s tank the other day before i start pumping in 36.16litre of RON97 fuel from Shell worth RM74.13 because lately they introduced the “Save 1 Litre From Every Full Tank” formula. One and a half week later, the fuel signal light up again which is about the time when i start taking down the amount of mileage i have back then. After doing the necessary calculations, i have reached the final numbers.

Amazingly, the RON97 fuel consumes no more litre per KM compared to RON95. I got RM0.18 per KM, very close to the RON95 fuel rating consumption of Shell’s. The only advantage of RON97 is that it gives your car a little bit more acceleration power compared to RON95 and the difference is really huge if you are driving an underpowered car like the 1.3 Proton Gen.2. I excluded the fact that during the fuel consumption test for the RON97, i did 2 runs of high speed driving up to 170kmph and we all know what happens to the fuel consumption if you drive fast whereas during the RON95 testing period, all was slow city driving.

I wouldn’t dare to confirmed that indeed the RON97 is no different from RON95 in terms of fuel consumption because i would have to do any test period with it to get the average like how i did with the RON95 but for now, i’m pretty much sticking to RON97.

Integrity.

Yesterday during my General Paper lecture, one bloke came to my table and put down a piece of paper to which i immediately identified it as a very ugly piece of art because i see all sorts of scribbles on it. That bloke who came and pass me that paper isn’t really helpful in terms of helping me identifying the real nature of that paper because he just came by and murmured something like a retard who has food stuffed in his mouth in a very low tone. If i were a girl, i would’ve been turned off by his way of communication which explains why he looks like an oak tree to me o_O

Of course, it’s nothing technical about what was written on that piece of paper. It’s what we ATC students always do, start writing a petition and passing it around to have everyone who agrees to it, to sign and i must admit, the last time i saw the existence of this paper was during my Part 2 revision period whereby a person who goes by the name Chan Yen Hui, don’t really care if i got her surname wrong because i have very little respect for human beings. That piece of paper goes on to say that Mr. Gerard is unfit to conduct our Conflicts of Law revision classes and requested for a change in lecturer and i must say, it is very very effective. A week later, Mr. Gerard was replaced by poor Ms. Irene who now has to do double her work. It seems that the management prefers informal documents rather than formal ones.

Anyway, here is what i got in hand. It is a petition written on a piece of paper with the heading ” We Hereby Petition Against The Overpriced Foto Prime Graduation Package!” and below it you can see numerous signatures of the students who shared the same view. Obviously, we are all not very artistic in nature because none of the signatures on the package looked like an elegant one *yawns* but what caught my attention was this person who goes by the name “Shandy Yeoh”. If you noticed, she signed “Alexis” instead of Shandy or Yeoh or anything else. Well, you can argue that that could be her Chinese name but what type of heroic parent would named their daughter “Shandy Yeoh Alexis” o_O?

To be honest, i laughed in my heart when i saw this so-called petition. There was no mention about what they are against with but fear not, let me brief you guys.

The LLB Convocation will be held on the 8th December 2009 at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, RM180.00 per head which i think is too much. Furthermore, i was told that you cannot attend the convocation ceremony if you do not buy the tickets to attend the dinner later after the event. That pretty much leaves you with no choice but to buy the tickets to the dinner. The reason why i think this is unreasonable is solely because my sister studied and graduated from ATC as well and her convocation was held at Sunway’s Convention Centre with the price not more than RM110.00 per head if i was not mistaken but the good thing about that is, the college gave my sister 2 complimentary entry tickets for parents whereas for ours, not only we do not get any complimentary tickets, we, the graduates, would also have to pay RM180.00 in order to attend the convocation ceremony and trust me, i attended on the behalf of my dad and Sunway’s Convention Centre is not embarrassing at all.

Just think about it, if Astro chose Sunway’s venue to held the Astro Chinese Paegent there a year once, do you think it’s really that bad?

We don’t have a standby graduation robe because why would we?

All these while, ATC’s graduation function’s photography has been outsourced to one Foto Prime and they too provide with the rental of graduation robes. I was told that Foto Prime’s Graduation Package is RM388.00, for one robe and one photo with NO frame. If you want to have the photo taken that night to be framed, another RM120.00 is to be paid. Photo is not glossy as well and to have it glossed, an additional RM30.00 has to be paid [Rough Estimation of Price] but it’s around there. Deposit is RM200.00.

Paying that additional RM120.00 somehow became mandatory because my friend told me that without the frame, the photo resembles those where they would placed in front of the casket van of a Chinese funeral procession. That is what a reasonable man thinks about the photo without the frame. You wouldn’t want your graduation photo to look like a dead man’s photo, yes?

… and i have to give it to Foto Prime, they gave the graduates an option to have the University of London insignia included in the photo they taken for RM30.00 but that was yesterday’s news because today, my friend told me that he went and enquire about the price and apparently they told him that, it could be more than RM30.00 o_O but these are all business, offer and acceptance, if you do not want, nobody can force you to accept the offer, yes?

I think that the best way to protest is to have the whole class boycotting the convocation night and only when we get what we want, we will attend but that is bad because that would amount to an act equivalent to rebellion, i don’t want that. So to avoid getting accused of not meant what i said, i have decided to NOT attend the 2009 convocation night coming this December to show that i am not happy with the arrangements. I am doing this based on my own conscience for i think it is the right thing to do.
