My Annual Holiday Trip by Shani
Nothing poetic about this entry, the title is made in that way so that it would sound cool.
As always, ever since i got myself attached, i have been making holidays trips to places after every major examinations that i’ve gone through and this year’s was a bit late because my examination was draaaaaaaaaaaaaged for a good period for almost one freaking month and also my girlfriend was also waiting for her results for her Semester 2 course which she dreaded so much, thinking she would fail, passed with a 3.4 GPA! -.-
We planned to head over to Cameron Highlands this time but because we’re too cheapskate to fork out money from our own pocket for rooms, we once again seek help from my girlfriend’s aunty to see if she can get us a room at Awana Genting and we got it. I don’t really remember how many times we’ve been to Genting for those corny one day trip at the theme park until the extend that we are tad close to sleeping on the road side but then again, i don’t know why, everytime we go up there, it feels so good T___T
We’ve learned our lesson well after what we’ve been through the first time we were there and you can read all about it on this thread “The Disastrous Barbeque” and so this time, we reduced the amount of food we’re taking with us and also we are doing steamboat instead of bbq`ing again because the last time we did it there, the whole room smelled like charcoal for 2 straight days. I think i’m proud to say that, we did almost everything right this time ^^!
Left home at near 1100hrs and reached Awana at about 1200hrs, checked into room 2584 which is the Garden Suite, just like last year only that this time, the suite was refurbished so it looked a little bit more contemporary and neat compared to the old ones. Strange thing is that i don’t know why but i was asked to register at the first guard post on the way up to Genting based on the reason “safety registry” o_O i mean what the hell does that mean?
Probably was worry that Forbidden’s puny 1.3 litre engine would die half way through T____T
Room 2584 is a corner situated room so it leaves us with an extra balcony on the right hand side where you can basically got out and see this…
… and sometimes when you are lucky enough, you might spot yourself some random people walking on the street going nowhere and you decided to take their picture and post it up on your own personal blog such as this…
I don’t know them and i did not hire them to do whatever they are doing so just to be fair, the guy will be known as Peter and the girl as Jane on a hill… geddit?! geddit??=D Gosh, i’m such a stalker sometimes and it’s fun =D Right… moving on
2 bedrooms and this is the one that’s near the entrance, 2 single beds assuming for the childrens.
The master bedroom, a king sized bed with a sliding wood panel which opens up to connect both the living room and the master bedroom together.
This is the living room and this sofa can be extended and transformed into a secondary bed but unfortunately, the ones in our suite is damaged -.- it is in 2 pieces when it is extended ending up with a skateboard bed but then again, didn’t really mattered much.
Life was everything but for negative ill feelings, lying down with my girlfriend on that skateboard bed, watching nothing but dramas on national television while trying to keep the 2 piece together with our hips, experiencing that cool air that the town can just never offer us.
It was pretty much 20% of what real mother nature can provide us everywhere if only we gave a little bit more thoughts on either the direct or indirect effect of our doings towards mother nature. These are bougainvillae btw, in Malay, they called it “Bunga Kertas” *yawns* what a lame name compared to the English.
Right after we settled everything down in the suite, we started boiling the barley we bought, RM0.55 and we get a whole day supply of sweet barley T___T I don’t know how many cups it made but all i know that it was a lot of cups, each probably go for like RM.3.50 per cup at First World and not to mention theirs are nothing but sugar water.
Having reduced SIGNIFICANTLY on the amount of food we bought there, we exchange part of it with dry sundries which consists of the ordinary, instant noodles. We are always in the constant fear of hunger T____T and in Genting, 10 potato chips can buy you a brand new E90 BMW 320i in town.
Blessed with a miniature wet kitchen, my girlfriend prepares one of the things that will go into the steamboat dinner that night.
Just look at the amount of concentration, attentiveness and dedication she has given to it for the preparation T___T it is so fast that it creates a motion blur waaaaaa~
Having settled most of the things for dinner or should i say everything, girlfriend made both of us some snacks and the only ladle we are provided is seemingly covered with oil and grease, we decided to just do away with it and use a fork instead which pretty much explains the burnt marks on the hot dogs.
First World is selling one hot dog for RM4.00 and a stick of 3 fish/prawn balls at RM3.00, we have 4 hot dogs and 4 prawn balls here on the plate so it would costs us
4(RM4.00) + RM3.00 = RM16.00 + RM3.00 = RM21.00
A grand total of RM21.00!
We bought a pack of hotdog with a dozen in them and a big packet of prawn balls with probably has 20 or 25 balls in them and both of them didn’t even add up to RM10.00 -.-
Having obtained 6 Up & Down complimentary Skyway tickets, we checked the shuttle bus schedule from Awana to Skyway station and missed the time we aimed for probably by 10 to 15 minutes because my superior watch is 15minutes early -.- the next shuttle bus would be in an hour and having weighed all the pros and cons, i suggested to my girlfriend that we should just drive to that Skyway station because it would be in ANYWAY more convenient and it’s not really that far.
Hopped on the Skyway and off we go and when we say Genting is a blood sucking place, it really is. Apparently, they introduced a new method to get every penny off visitors who board the Skyway now. As soon as you board the gondola, you’ll see a person standing around the corner carrying a Canon EOS snapping pictures for you and then they have it printed out and framed in an art card for you to purchase when you reached the top.
It is rather irritating, IMO. The view of Kuala Lumpur from here was relatively more blurry compared to last year, an obvious sign of the haze and maybe the increased amount of engines, not a beautiful or a promising look for a brighter future not to mention that the sun rays was as good as if you were in a village during the afternoon 50 years ago when the temperature is supposed to be cooler than usual.
Thank goodness that the top of Genting was still pretty much preserved, a big chunk of the forest here are still left untouched, the very definition of “virgin forest” *giggles*. Let’s hope it stays that way for the next coming few hundred years of probably after i’m dead, then i don’t care anymore.
I realized that my phone was not with me when we reached the top and i feared that i might have dropped it in the gondola but my girlfriend told me she checked the gondola before we exited but then again, she had doubts because i was climbing here and there while we were in it snapping pictures. She suggested that since we have so many Skyway tickets and it is almost definitely in NO WAY we are going to exhaust the tickets in time, let’s go down and check and see it it’s in my car and we did -.-
Treated my girlfriend with Baskin Robbins and walked around until we were hungry, went over to the mamak next to Resort Hotel and bought Beef Curry to supplement dinner. I really think that we have reduced the portion of dinner compared to the last time but actually, it’s not really that SIGNIFICANT as i thought it would be after checking out the pictures.
It was still a table full ._.
The only difference is that we are better at marketing because we spend an at least RM40.00 lesser on food but then again *sigh* we still ended up not being able to finish the food. In fact, my girlfriend had a sick stomach because she ate too much and the stench lingers in her mouth *hitwall*
I asked my girlfriend why we are always like that, both of us have no answer. We agreed that the next time if we ever go to anywhere that we can cook our own food, We will just get instant noodles and other nonsense side dishes.
You know, nowadays people go the distance just to attract parents to buy things that they don’t need just so that they can make their children a little bit more happier, look at this
Look at the star and the Panda, or i hope it is a Panda =O they look just so damn cute to be eaten. So fine, we had dinner and we took our shower, sat down, relaxed and chilled as in literally because it was really cold when night fell. We were shivering despite the fact that the fan was turned off and so we thought having something hawt to drink would be extremely nice now and since my girlfriend’s aunty gave us 2 RM25.00 Coffee Bean cash vouchers, why not drive up to Genting and satisfy our desires.
Drove up, found out Coffee Bean was closed and most of the shops and then we drove down ._. and made ourselves 2 nice hawt drinks in the suite. A cup of Van Houten chocolate drink and a cup of 3 in 1 Nescafe Regular.
Went to bed after that.
Checked out at 1100hrs, headed downhill and had Burger King for lunch. Crawled to Times Square and tried Krispy Kreme and watched Drag Me To Hell which is a fairly “tiring” movie. Will tell you why when i made the review sometime later.
Will be going back up to Genting this coming 29th June, after watching Transformers : Revenge of The Fallen on the 24th June of course. Staying at First World hotel this time because we have never stayed there together and everytime when we tried, we failed to get a room but this time, i made a booking online through my debit card and i think it is quite an good deal though, a Deluxe room which would usually go at RM170.00++ because it’s on Friday (Shoulder season) but i got it for RM88.00 inclusive of breakfast =D
