Best Lawyer Story.. EVER!

February 27, 2009 shani 6 comments

This is the best lawyer story of the year, decade, and probably the century!

A Charlotte, NC, lawyer purchased a box of very rare and expensive cigars, then insured them against fire among other things. Within a month having smoked his entire stockpile of these great cigars and without yet having made even his first premium payment on the policy, the lawyer filed a claim against the insurance company.

In his claim, the lawyer stated the cigars were lost “in a series of small fires.” The insurance company refused to pay, citing the obvious reason: that the man had consumed the cigars in the normal fashion. The lawyer sued…..and won! In delivering the ruling, the judge agreed with the insurance company that the claim was frivolous.

The Judge stated, nevertheless, that the lawyer held a policy from the company in which it had warranted that the cigars were insurable and also guaranteed that it would insure them against fire, without defining what is considered to be unacceptable fire, and was obligated to pay the claim. Rather than endure lengthy and costly appeal process, the insurance company accepted the ruling and paid $15,000 to the lawyer for his loss of the rare cigars lost in the “fires.”

NOW FOR THE BEST PART

After the lawyer cashed the check, the insurance company had him arrested on 24 counts of ARSON! With his own insurance claim and testimony from the previous case being used against him, the lawyer was convicted of intentionally burning his insured property and was sentenced to 24 months in jail and a $24,000 fine.

This is a true story and was the 1st place winner in the recent Criminal Lawyers Award Contest.

ONLY IN AMERICA!

Couldn’t get any better than this! XD

Polarization, Begins!

February 26, 2009 shani Leave a comment

Since the day i got my filter, i haven’t really tested out its real potential yet and today i finally got the chance because i got a rather clear sky lined up for me and it’s sunny =) perfect kill for polarizing images >=)

Before | After

Before | After

Remember when i said that i never expected by RM12.00 polarizer filter to have the same output as a RM100.00 Hoya branded one but it didn’t really matter because i have yet evolved into a full time photographer because i only have a semi and not full dSLR?

I thought the output results are trivial but it seems to me that the difference is rather vast. As you can see that obviously, my Massa branded polarizer does its job AS a polarizer by reducing haze and darken blue skies, infamously. The problem with it is that the coating is only partial. As you can see on the right picture, one side of the sky is darker than the other or in other words, the coating is not perfect.

What you pay is what you get, true to its very core =O

In the area of how the polarizer works in indoor shots, it can work provided that you have plenty of light source shining on your subject. The darken area of the table is supposed to be reflecting the ceiling and whatever it should be reflecting if the polarizer is not present.

Nonetheless, pictures looks great through it =)

I Have Moved

February 26, 2009 shani 4 comments

Yes, i have moved from one place to another and i’m not really happy with my new residence.

This is my dog and she is expressing how i feel on my behalf.

Things i do now :

  1. practicing some panning skills (might come in handy in the future)
  2. blogging as this is the only thing that made me feel like i’m “home”
  3. cry (just kidding)

Let’s hope things cleared up soon.
