Having slept only 2 hours, i was dying and very desperate to have a sleep, even if it’s on the class’s dirty carpeted floor but i know if i did, i will never wake up T_____T so i took my S5 and run around college.

Pretty decent eh this picture? It was a very sunny morning and i found a RM10.00 note on the floor of the nearby Chinese temple when i was walking to my college. There was no one around to lay claim to it and it may prove more useful to me because i left my wallet in my girlfriend’s handbag so i took it and made it mine but that intention of fully owning it didn’t completely shrouded my mind. I went to college and offered everyone that note and told them the truth but nobody wants the money so at the end of the day, i used to buy myself a McFlurry Berries, paid for RM2.00 for JC’s Large McDonald’s Meal and RM0.90 for photocopied notes.
In anycase, the election for the Student Representative Council has started once again
Campaign & Election Datelines
As you can see, nothing has changed much since last year. Candidates only have 2 days to campaign but for the past 3 days when i was in college which is exactly the period that candidates should be campaigning, i didn’t see anything other than white papers sticking all over the college premises and that also only 2 persons are doing it, where are the rest? However, the voting day fell on an odd day again which is Friday and that totally removes the Part II students because we don’t have classes on that day. Regarding the appeal date, it’s practically useless because whatever reasons you have to back up your appeal, it will not be entertained.
Talking about campaigning, there is this particular person who goes by the name Dominic Gan Teck Long who is a freshman, his first year in ATC because he has been self studying for the past two and he is looking at the Deputy President’s seat but i have one reason that i think he should not win and that is he had no idea about the cultures of ATC at all. To simplify things, he knows NOTHING, Zero.
Change? O RLY
This is his proposal, his “about me” sheet that he has been sticking all over college like nobody’s business. I am a very critical person so let’s evaluate each and every one of his claimed manifestos.
Stop Climate Chaos
Seriously, i don’t see what has the post of Deputy President in ATC’s Student Representative Council has to do with global warming issue and reducing harmful gas to the environment. His objective is to create awareness that these things are bad but honestly, how many of us do not know of such fact and how many of us who chose to ignore this fact?
IMO, he’s a little bit off his feet this lad. What is he trying to make to ATC? ATC is a law college and we have nothing to do with the environment. His approach might be more suitable in colleges like Taylors or INTI or whichever that offers diversity of courses that has a connection with this aspect. Law and environment has no relevance AT ALL.
Fund Raiser
Yet again, this kid shows no knowledge about how ATC works. If he did some research about the previous Student Council he would’ve realized that there is no such things as funds and there will never be. Students who come to ATC are mostly not rich to begin with and the real truth that students not being able to continue paying fees installments is because they just simply wants to default and not lack of financial support. Get your facts right, Dominic.
Suggestion can be made to the Student Council to offer such help but the the Student Council is made up of students and not entreprenuers who earns thousands per month. Everyone has financial problems and his approach is like asking a cow to go hunt for meat. Moreover, it’s only a Deputy President post, not Hitler. No matter how much he wanted a plan to go on, if the council doesn’t approve. It will still have to be scrap.
Regarding problem sharing, we have the Christian Fellowship and also our college have a counselor that are ever ready to listen to student’s problems. Talking to an adult is definitely better than talking to a peer and if this kid wants to contribute substantially, he might be the youngest bankrupt ever in Malaysian history haha.
One to 1 Voice
This is perhaps the most corny and oldest trick to make people believe that he is a people person but i don’t think people will fall for this trick anymore. All the suggestions that he has been receiving requires something we like to call money and this is something that the council doesn’t have. He is like a Chinese who just migrated to the United States and wants to be President.
This Dominic guy claims that he is ready to listen but from what i have heard and seen, it just doesn’t tally. Mr. Reuben was seen in the 5th floor tearing down these ‘posters’ that Dominic has pasted all over the college including the toilet because it’s really disturbing and is going against the campaigning rule and one thing that has to be brought into the attention is that Mr. Reuben said he had issued a warning to Dominic asking him not to do so but so far, there has been no changes. I also have personally engaged in a conversation with him when he came over and asked for votes and i too told him that it is against the rule for campaigning in such a way, he doesn’t seem to listen. Friends whom i met over lunch told me that they greeted him but he just ignored them.
So, do you want people like him to be your Deputy President? If i am voting (which i’m not) the reason why i am voting for him is just because he is so far the only Chinese candidate for the Student Representative Council and even if he is elected i won’t be counting on him for doing anything. I hope he doesn’t get disqualified for his continuing defiance. Whatever it is, so far the only person that i have seen running for the President post is some Indian fellow who is a also a freshie, from Intermediate.
On other news, there is another new club in ATC and it is called ATC Hindu Sangam which i have no idea what do they do but i just find that there are just WAYYY to many indian based clubs in ATC. What is happening to ATC T_______T
